What DRILL should you work on?

I HATE basketball ... absolutely LOATHE the game ... but it's simple, just make shots under pressure so that you don't have to offensively rebound and you're fresher to make steals and defensively rebound ... just score ... otherwise the game is just chasing the ball around.

If EVERY member on basketball team would just be a member of the 50-40-90 club ... that team would win ALL of their games ... you might think that, stuff like rebounding, steals or setting up plays matter -- it dorta does, but it's secondary ... but none of that stuff fixes a bunch of lazy crybabies just chasing a ball around or sbowing off ... if players would practice about 10 hrs every day on drills to shoot under pressure ... IF ... with another couple hours spent playing basketball under the watchful eye of qualified coaches or just even qualified QA critics like TRAINED parents/alums/grad assistants ... that's correct -- parents, if they actually give a shit, should be TRAINED so they don't coach wrong ...

It should be possible to select for the best of the best among the 50-40-90 club ... if kids don't want to work on their skills, they should do other things. Playing on really SHITTY teams with players that do not give a fuck is not a life skill.

It should be obvious that a big part of that is not many kids will stick with practicing 60 hrs/week 52 weeks a year in 1-on-1 shooting drills ... in addition to basketball practice ... the tendency of those kids will be to win a championship or two and think they don't need to practice that much anymore.

GTFO of your house ...
