Transitioning from ELS.jar to the latest 4.0.0 branch .tar.gz or .zip ELS distribution files

If you have been downloading ELS.jar into your environment it is time to transition to the latest ELS distribution file that has an embedded JRE.

This removes all outside dependencies for running ELS.

1. Go to the 4.0.0 branch deploy directory.
2. Click on the latest ELS-4.0.0 .tar.gz (Linux) or .zip (Windows) as needed.
   1. Do not download ELS-Updater which is handled by ELS internally.
   2. Click on the download link in the upper-right.
      
3. The archives contain bin/ and rt/ directories that may be unpacked into any previous ELS directory.
4. Unpack all files and directories into your ELS directory from inside the archive ELS. directory.
5. Use the ELS-Navigator.[sh or bat] in the root of the install directory.

All previous scripts are obsoleted. They may modified by hand to reference rt/bin/java[.exe] and bin/ELS.jar. Use the -C . command line parameter to make the current directory the working directory. ELS keeps user-level directories and data in the user's home directory/.els/. The ELS software may be installed anywhere that is writable by the user.

Once completed if you have no other Java applications then Java itself may be uninstalled if you wish.
