Enchanting and Tradesguild Tips

  • Before infusing armor or weapons, make sure they have bless and continual light on them, humming, and fireproof are bad
  • Continual light can be found east of naerlan, bless scroll can be found in hand of markov
  • Make sure to get +50 force or accuracy before using gems of force or accuracy on level 105 items using xedalium
  • When mining for a long time it makes sense to keep a bunch of "a clear potion" found in heishaer city to cast multiple refresh if you can't cast it
  • The maximum value of hammers on a weapon you can get is 18, anything past that is just risking breaking the form
  • piercing weapons with razor will always do more damage than bashing, but require more money to maintain if you don't have sharpen skill
  • For the best bashing weapon: Make a dagger, evenom weapon, runeblade, runeforge to mace, imbue hoping for BG, then instill force on it
  • For the best piercing weapon: Make a mace, imbue hoping for BG, runforge to dagger, envenom weapon, runeforge to mace, then still force on it

Combat Calculations

Hitroll

Since 95% is the maximum allowed hitchance, the recommendation is the find a worst case scenario for achieving a good hit chance, acquiring that much hitroll if feasible and then dumping the rest into other stats instead of wasting extraneous hitroll on armor.

Things that affect hit chance:

  • a tiny amount of your intelligence
  • a small amount of your strength
  • a large amount of the difference between your enemy and your dexterity
  • your hitroll becomes less effective at higher levels so more is needed
  • a very large portion can be affected by your rested state
  • there is a base of 65% chance to hit with possibility to go lower, with a maximum of 95%

Armor Class

Armor class doesn't scale well at later levels. You'd need -2500 AC to remove 30% of 1k damage at hero. Because of this scaling its better not to even worry about damage reduction from armor past beginning of the game.

Magic Saves

Saves can prevent effects altogether like blind, or merely reduce damage by a percent depending on the spell.

Things that affect saves:

  • racial resistance & invulnerability
  • mages, clerics, paladins, charlatans, myrmidons, antipaladins & monk have bonuses
  • warriors & thiefs have negatives
  • berserk provides an immense bonus to magic saves
  • level difference between an enemy and player provides a huge difference
  • you will always have at least a 5% chance to save, with a maximum of 95%
