This is happening during the build of one of the rp disk packs?
Any idea how to get past it,
I am using a pi 3. so can I just increase timeout somewhere?

This issue has been raised many times in the past. A Raspberry Pi 3 or 4 with an SD card is generally too slow to build. Various people have tweaked the timeouts, but no one has contributed the tweaks back.

A workaround is to use the "make download" target to get the ready built disk images.
