I find it really interesting, but it seems that is not getting any love.

Any change to get it working with the newest System.Reactive?

Unfortunately not. See #1 (comment). You might try akarnokd/reactive-extensions. Though it is not a direct replacement, it is written by one of the members of the ReactiveX team.
