CDC based HANA Connect

Is it still the plan to implement the feature to use Change Data Capture logs to capture all the changes against a table (insert/update/delete) without relying on an incremental column? With more and more focus on data retention and GDPR, which requires to delete the secondary/replicated data, CDC based connect will have great values.
Could you please share the latest plan?

Unfortunately, the colleague who was working on the CDC based connector left the project and there is no one to take over his work. So, it is stalled at the moment.
