Hello,
I was wondering is there a way to directly access the images from a mounted folder instead of uploading them first?

Not at the moment. Certain metadata from the image (height, width) is extracted during the upload process that is needed to display the images correctly. Further, other functions of the system share information in order to function correctly. If I may ask, were you just trying to use the viewer function of QuIP to just look at the images? I would like to understand your need for this feature.

mainly Viewing and annotation functions. I currently just build a simple flask back-end with openseadragon to make it work.

While we're working on this issue with our loading containers, we're still looking into making the loading process as unobtrusive as possible. We're leaving this issue open since direct access is likely not to be part of the 3.0 release.
