It would be nice (you made me discover pl3xmap which seems really good!)
You can ask the developers to make the integration on their end: it's actually not really difficult, they just have to copy how I did for dynmap or BlueMap (link)

It's not high on his priority list. But he will take a look eventually.

There is an entry in the wiki about map markings and the api can be used.

When I have some time I'll take a look at it too

Looks like the project requires a good amount of jars to be installed to the local repository for it to compile (and for the IDE to properly register classes). I will not be spending the time to implement support for pl3xmap/squaremap, but when someone does, they can use ChunkyBorder as a good point of reference for Squaremap API and Pl3xMap API usage.

If you do not want to bother managing all local JARs, just exclude the "integrations" module as explained in the wiki.
