I've noticed that those tests, e.g testThatMultipleBatchFetchesDontHappenUnnecessarily and maybe a couple others, fail quite frequently, even in PRs that have nothing to do with it.

We should spend some time investigating.

This was disabled by #649. We'll leave this open to investigate improving the test.
