Currently, nodes statuses are determined by comparing the network latest reward code and the node latest two claimed reward codes. This is done to compensate a slight delay between the moment when a node claims a reward code and when this code is registered in the network. This means that there is a time window during which a KO node is shown to be OK.
There should be a more accurate way of telling if a node is OK or KO.
