UXD Project Work - UNIMORE 2020/2021

This is a group project work done for the course of User eXperience Design (UXD) taught at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) in the second semester of the academic year 2020/2021.

The project 🔍

The project objective was applying User Experience Design principles and processes to design and improve both the physical and UI interfaces of a driver control monitor inside a New Holland tractor (CNH group). The proposed problem was based on a real project done by the university research lab Xilab in collaboration with the CNH group.

Methodology

For improving the overall User Experience, we followed a user-centered approach and the UX Design Cycle, made of 4 iterative steps:

  1. Requirements Gathering (req. list for users)
  2. Design Alternatives (concept generation)
  3. Prototyping (low and high fidelity)
  4. Evaluation (user testing)

We then analyzed user feedbacks from testing results to further improve the final high fidelity prototype done in Adobe XD.

The Prototype

For the final high fidelity interactive prototype, we followed UX and UI design best practices. In particular, we evaluated the interface using the 10 Nielsen heuristics and followed the Google Material Design guidelines and templates. Additionally, to maintain consistency over all the interface, we made a custom design system.
