"Existing data" might be interpreted as SO maps as they become available, but could also include AdvACT and Planck.

We would need:

  1. updates to the SONoiseSimulator interface to accept an external noise curve and inverse variance map (I can work on this)
  2. scripts to reproject Planck inv_variance maps to Equatorial healpix and CAR (volunteers?)
  3. scripts to measure the power spectra of whitened maps ( map * sqrt(inv_variance) ) and save these noise curves (ACT member volunteers for ACT data? SO member volunteers for Planck?)
