I am trying to install this onto my Steam Deck and cannot get past the last part of the installation.

I get this error in red.

Job for bootnext-refind.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
See "systemctl status bootnext-refind.service" and "journalctl -xeu bootnext-refind.service" for details.

Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

Thank You

Are you using the GUI installation method (which is recommended)?

No, what I mean is are you running this command for the installation which subsequently installs my GUI?

cd $HOME && rm -rf $HOME/SteamDeck_rEFInd/ && git clone https://github.com/jlobue10/SteamDeck_rEFInd && cd SteamDeck_rEFInd && chmod +x install-GUI.sh && ./install-GUI.sh

I am running this

git clone https://github.com/jlobue10/SteamDeck_rEFInd/
cd SteamDeck_rEFInd
chmod +x SteamDeck_rEFInd_install.sh
./SteamDeck_rEFInd_install.sh

Please use the method I suggested. The old method that you are trying has mostly been deprecated in favor of the GUI method.

I am guessing everything worked. Thank you for your help.

Yes looks good. I probably need to update the README some.

Now with the GUI, you will want to run the install rEFInd option once (Sourceforge method), select the various options and background icons that you want (legitimate PNG files) and run create config then install config. Then future changes can be done by repeating that process (make selections, create config followed by install config). An optional background randomizer is available too.
