Build DEB, RPM, and other packages for easy installation and upgrades, and to make the tool accessible to more users. Add to distributions as a standard package.

Note: this might conflict with other packages, e.g., https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/autogen so we may need to choose a different name, or hold off on this for now.
