from tli to tli-ipa:

  • "tâch" goes to "tʰatʃ"
  • "tâch " goes to "tʰatʃʰ "

I believe that all the mappings with [^'] as context after need to be changed.

For example:

ch,tʃʰ,,[^']
ch,tʃ,,

is intended to say that ch' goes to but otherwise ch goes to tʃʰ but at the end of a word, it treats ch as if it had the ' unless there is a space following the word.

This would probably work better:

ch',tʃ,,
ch,tʃʰ,,

as long as we use apply-longest-first (and prevent-feeding), which we do for this mapping.

But, question: was it the intention to leave out the aspiration mark ʰ when those various consonants occurred word finally? If so, then the mapping of "tâch" to "tʰatʃ" would be correct and it would be the case with the space afterwards that was wrong.

Either way, one of those two cases is wrong, since they really should produce the same output, since the space after the word should not be relevant.
