Significant changes from RC 3:

  • Variable font no longer contains "ital" axis, as legacy support is poor (i.e. font-style:italic doesn't map to the max extreme of the ital axis.) However, the "slnt" (Slant) axis is well-supported. The italic masters and instances are now positioned along the slant axis instead of italic. This is merely a semantic change, with no visual effect.
  • Fixes some italic glyphs in the variable font
  • Kerning and other minor improvements

Significant changes from RC 2:

  • Fixes issue with incorrect name metadata for the "Black Italic" style
  • Fixes calt regression for left-hand side "case" cascade (e.g. ***X*** would use .case for only the first asterisk on the left side.)
  • Kerning improvements
  • Improvements to tabular numbers

  • Fixes vertical alignment of some glyphs when rendered by ClearType (caused by flipped components; #76)
  • Black and Black Italic masters have had a lot of refinements to several glyphs, especially S, s, O, x, y, v, w, V, C, G, D and a few others that are similar in shape.
