Back up stuff and other notes


Was talking to Kehv aboout recursive functions. Wanted to save
this one he showed me. 


function flatten(input_array)
{
    var new_array = [];
    
    var element = input_array.shift()
    
    if(Array.isArray(element))
    {
       new_array = new_array.concat(flatten(element));
    }
    else
    {
        new_array = new_array.concat(element);
    }
    
    if(input_array.length >0)
        new_array = new_array.concat(flatten(input_array));
    
    return new_array;
}

This one is a pattern. While the other one, the one I wrote is more of anti pattern.

	Loops and recursion are sort of...each other's opposites.  
	If you can write it as a loop, you can write it as a purely recursive function.
	  And if you can do it with recursion, you can do it with only a loop (or two).

function flatten(array,saved){
	
	var newArray = saved ? undefined : []; //Still getting used to that ? operator.

	for(var x=0; x < array.length; x++){
	 	if(Array.isArray(array[x])){
	 	    flatten(array[x]);
	 	} else {
	 	    newArray.push(array[x]);
	 	}
	}

	return newArray;
}

This one is more of an anti pattern since its using that for loop
