I think you are right, this is needed. We used this for https://github.com/webarkit/wasm-ar developed by @EdwardLu2018. opencv-em it's only a shell script that helps to build the necessary opencv static libs compiled with Emscripten, and for every build we made a release so you have only to download them. Read this Issue #1 for more infos. You can find also a gist to download the zipped files inside wasm-ar, instead of build by yourself. I used them not only for wasm-ar but also for other little projects. 😄
