1. Setup

  • Navigate to the web application URL (or your self hosted instance)
  • Signup with an account
  • Login
  • Under your username dropdown, go to Settings:
    • Create a profile name

    • Enter the API Key you get from either Twilio or Telnyx

    • Click Get Number

    • Select the sending number from the dropdown list

    • Click Save

    • If you are already using that number for a previous setting (e.g. Linphone), you will get a warning message whether you want to override everything (the calling settings as well as the message settings) or only apply the message settings in the backend and keep the original call settings (with Linphone or any other app you may have configured). Some people prefer using Linphone for calling and this app for messages only. That's why the option is there. The right configurations are applied automatically in the backend depending on what option you choose.

    • Repeat to create another profile with either the same API key (different number) or a different API key

  • Now go to the dropdown and click compose and start sending/receiving sms's on that number
  • The first time you receive an sms, your browser will ask you to enable notifications. In firefox, that message may get suppressed. In the URL bar, you will see a message icon next to the Lock 🔒 symbol. Click it and allow web notifications.
