Would be very useful as it's a pretty common use case. Could probably be very short since it's not a complex procedure.

With PR # #1082 merged, maybe now is a good time to consider adding such an example/tutorial since we think the checkpointing/pickup API won't change too much?

Should we implement a double gyre example that picks up from a checkpoint?

I think we want to show both checkpointing and pickup/restoring from a checkpoint like a script that's meant to be resubmitted multiple times to a job scheduler like Slurm (and we can also include the accompanying Slurm file). Actual example itself may not be that important. If anything, checkpointing just involves adding a few lines so it could be a pretty small section.

Hmm yeah I agree that docs are enough. Putting an example together is annoying but could be cool to also illustrate usage of DataDeps.

#3469 did some progress on this, but it didn't resolve the issue, right?
