This is mostly an RFC. It obviously increases developer workload, but the list of distros shipping gtksourceview-5 at all is somewhat limited:

Please avoid packaging it in repos without gtksourceview-5. This is meant for people wanting to contribute to Tuba and not for end-users.It *won't* include optimizations such as avoiding GET requests to the instance's emojis.
