RescueEat

RescueEat is a mobile application developed to reduce food waste and fight against hunger. The app enables users to share their excess food items with others who need them, thereby promoting a more sustainable and equitable food system.

Getting Started

To get started with RescueEat, follow these steps:

Prerequisites

1. Android Studio
2. Android SDK
3. Firebase Account

Installation

1. Clone the repository from GitHub to your local machine: git clone https://github.com/username/RescueEat.git
2. Open the project in Android Studio and sync the Gradle files.
3. Create a Firebase project and add the Firebase configuration file to the app.
4. Run the app on an emulator or physical device.

Usage

On the home screen, select "Donate Food" or "Get Food" depending on your needs.

If you are donating food, enter the details of the food item, including its name, quantity, and expiry date. You can also upload a photo of the item.

If you are looking for food, enter your location and search for available food items. You can filter the results by distance, food type, and expiry date.

Select a food item to view its details and contact the donor.

Contributing

We welcome contributions to RescueEat! To contribute, please follow these steps:

1. Fork the repository.
2. Create a new branch for your feature or bug fix.
3. Make your changes and commit them.
4. Push your changes to your forked repository.
5. Submit a pull request to merge your changes into the main branch.
