Regarding building ostree images elementary/os#582.

Is there any reasoning elementary's dpkg origin file is called elementary OS?

Building a rootfs with multistrap fails because of this:

dpkg-divert: error: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 258 package 'base-files':
value for 'Conffiles' field has malformed line '/etc/dpkg/origins/elementary OS '

According to https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man5/deb-origin.5.html:

The file should be named according to the vendor name. The usual convention is to name the vendor file using the vendor name in all lowercase, but some variation is permitted. Namely, spaces are mapped to dashes (‘-’), and the file can have the same casing as the value in Vendor field, or it can be capitalized.

Can we just name it elementary instead?

It sounds like the filename is supposed to match the vendor name inside the file, which is currently just elementary
