Scale Quantizer

Scared by the anarchy of unconstrained tone? Want to come back to that familiar octave of your youth? Here at Amalgamated Harmonics, our engineers and scientists provide the best possible set of semitones, fresh from the laboratory.

These modules work great with the Fifths and Fourths module!

Scale Quantizer Mk. II

Second generation quantizer, designed for situations where there are many independent pitches which you want to quantize using the same root note/scale.

Scale Quantizer Mk 2

  • Top row of input and outputs. Independent inputs and corresponding quantized outputs.
    • IN V/OCT: Input pitch
    • HOLD: When this input receives a trigger; the input pitch is held until a new trigger is received
    • OCTAVE: Shift the pitch of the output up to 3 whole octave, up or down.
    • OUT V/OCT: Quantized pitch
    • OUT TRIG: A trigger is fired on this output when the quantized output changes.
  • KEY: Root note of the scale, either under CV or panel control. The CV input overrides the control.
  • SCALE: Scale, either under CV or panel control. The CV input overrides the control. In order of appearance:
    • C: Chromatic,
    • Io: Ionian a.k.a. Major
    • Do: Dorian
    • Ph: Phrygian
    • Ly: Lydian
    • Mi: Mixolydian
    • Ae: Aeolian a.k.a. (Natural) Minor
    • Lo: Locrian
    • 5M: Major Pentonic
    • 5m: Minor Pentatonic
    • Hm: Harmonic Minor
    • B: Blues
  • TRANS: Transpose the output pitch in semi-tones. This functions independently of the quantizer and scale selected

The original AH quantizer.

  • TRIG: Gate fired when the quantized pitch changes
  • OUT: Quantised note (1V/OCT)
  • Top row of outputs: Gates triggered according to the interval of the note quantised with respect to the root note.
