Looks like 1.0.0-experimental1 ships with 0.218 framework packages, so the minimum in my sample needs adjusting. Afterwards, bootstrap is successful.

Thanks @riverar! By combining the official bootstrap sample and your suggestion, I was able to make it working with the following code:

MddBootstrap.Initialize(0x00010000, "experimental1");

This needs really more serious love on the managed side, because it's like working with magic strings to find the right combination.

It's be great if version numbers and tags could be exposed so we didn't need to guess with each update :-)

There'll be a header with version constants so you could write e.g. MddBootstrapInitialize(MAJORMINOR, VERSIONTAG, VERSION) to pass in the values of the version you're built against (actual symbols will be less generic, no worries about collisions). The build pipeline's been creating it for some time but it wasn't getting copied into the NuGet. I'm looking into it

Working on it :-) Think of a MddBootstrap.cs derivative, plus the generated build constants, plus an option for exceptions on failure. I'll post a PR with experimental bits once I get something in coherent form.

This will include an update to the Dynamic Dependencies spec (where the Bootstrap API is defined) and go through our usual API Review process. Everyone's welcome to share feedback on the PR . That's the point of open development after all - better together :-)

You want to Initialize's return code. It's an HRESULT so if <0 it's an error

I've passed word to folks to correct the sample. The 'serious love' :-) will support throwing an exception on error. Keep an eye out for the PR next week...
