From your stack trace it looks like you are using Jboss EAP 7.4.14? I am using Jboss EAP 7.4.12 and not seeing any issue.

Can you confirm that is your Jboss version and I will try and test.

No never include any Faces stuff in your WAR its already loaded by the container (Jboss) when it detects you are using a faces-config.xml etc. it just deferes to the Faces API and Mojarra version included in Jboss itself.

Do you let JBOSS validate XML files? In our web.xml we have:
