Youtube-Music-Sync

Command-line utility for maintaining an active repository of music in YouTube playlist

Required Dependencies:

python >=3.0
yt-dlp

Optional Dependencies:

python-mutagen (required by -t flag)
python-selenium (required by --noapi flag)
phantomjs (required by --noapi flag)

Installation

On Arch Linux

  -t, --id3tag          Automatically sets up ID3 tags based on '-' delimiter.
                        Requires optional dependency 'python-mutagen'
  -v, --verbose         Includes skipped songs(Already downloaded and in
                        active playlist)
  -s, --simulate        Simulates without actually downloading, good for speed
                        testing
  -c CONFIG, --config CONFIG
                        Alternate config file location
  --noapi               uses alternative method to youtube data api to grab
                        meta data

Setup

Youtube-Sync's config file is put in $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/youtubeSync by default. If XDG_CONFIG_HOME is not defined the config file is placed in the same directory as the youtube-sync python script.

• destination - Repository directory (WARNING, ANY FILES(excluding dirs) WILL BE DELETED FROM THIS DIRECTORY IF NOT IN THE REMOTE PLAYLIST)
• googleAPIKey - Youtube-Sync uses Google's Youtube API to fetch playlists, you can obtain an API key for this HERE. You will then need to enable the Youtube Data API HERE.
• playlistID - Youtube playlist ID. For example the playlist link "https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAL-r3tHdQs205l8ARXJIwoQlfZg9ND6L" has a playlist ID of "PLAL-r3tHdQs205l8ARXJIwoQlfZg9ND6L"

Once this is completed you can run Youtube-Sync by typing "youtube-sync" in a terminal. It should begin to download any music present in the selected playlist.
