Can't connect to Kafka from AKHQ

Sir,

Looking for some help in resolving AKHQ connectivity issue with Kafka running on my kubernetes.

Steps followed to install AKHQ:

1. Add Helm Repo : helm repo add akhq https://akhq.io/
2. Update Helm Repos: helm repo update
3. Clone AKHQ github git clone https://github.com/tchiotludo/akhq & end values.yaml as below.

4. Install AKHQ: cd akhq/helm/akhq and helm install akhq-release-name akhq/akhq --namespace=akhq --values=values.yaml

Observation:
AKHQ is getting installed but has connectivity issue with Kafka

The problem you have seems to be linked to a wrong Kafka cluster setup that prevents AKHQ from connecting to it. It is not related to AKHQ itself but more on the way you deployed your Kafka cluster in K8S

1. I understand AKHQ is having problems in connecting to Kafka Broker.
2. 1. Self managed confluent-kafka setup was done using https://github.com/confluentinc/cp-helm-charts?tab=readme-ov-file#readme
3. I can confirm that kafka-client pod deployed in same k8s is able to connect to zookeeper & broker. Take a look at example snapshot below

So wanted to know what should be done to allow AKHQ see Kafka Broker.

AKHQ seems to be deployed in an "akhq" namespace. I suppose that the kafka cluster is deployed in another namespace, right ? If so, IMO you should better deploy AKHQ in the same namespace because namespaces are isolated

You were 100% correct. Had to launch AKHQ in same workspace where I had Kafka deployed.

summarizing steps I followed to install AKHQ on k8s & connecting it to self-managed confluent kafka:

helm repo add akhq https://akhq.io/
helm repo update
helm repo list

Clone git clone https://github.com/tchiotludo/akhq
Made following changes in values.yaml, cd akhq/helm/akhq & ran helm install akhq-release-name akhq/akhq --values=values.yaml to install akhq

Question: I note in AKHQ 0.25.1, I don't see option to connect to schema registry or connect (which I had seen in 0.14.1). Were these removed from UI?

Check here https://akhq.io/docs/configuration/authentifications/groups.html#roles or the application.example.yaml in the repo for configuration example.

Your user seems to be missing some roles on CONNECT_CLUSTER, CONNECTOR and SCHEMA
