Overlay Mode

NOTE: Overlay Mode is only available in Splitter ≥ 5.0

Oftentimes, games on macOS are presented full screen, which prevents other applications from displaying windows on top of them. However, apps that do not include a dock icon - or "acessory" apps, as they called in Apple's developer documentation - can show UI above full screen windows. Overlay Mode takes advantage of this to display Splitter on top of full screen windows.

To turn on Overlay Mode, go to the Preferences window (Splitter -> Preferences in the Menu Bar), click "General", then click the switch to turn it on.

In Overlay Mode, Splitter cannot display a Dock icon, or items on the left side of the Menu Bar, but will display a status icon on the right side of the menu bar. If you click the menu bar icon, it will activate Splitter - just like clicking the Dock icon. Right-clicking the icon will show a menu, including a toggle to turn off Overlay Mode, and all of the items that would usually appear on the left side of the menu bar.
