The Spots window shows a list of spotted stations on a specific band. You can use several sources for spots, including DX clusters, the reverse beacon network, a locally running skimmer (for example SDC or CWSkimmer, or even add a station manually to the list (Bandmap > Mark in Bandmap, Ctrl+M).

Setting Up the Spot List

  1. Configure at least one spot source in the configuration file, as described in Configuration, Spot Sources.
  2. Activate the spot source in the Bandmap menu.

You can activate multiple spot sources. The Spots list will show the spots from all active sources.

Band Selection

Above the list there is a row of buttons for all the bands that the current contest is running on.

A single click on one of the buttons switches the spot list to this band, the band of the VFO stays the same. A colored marker on the top of the band buttons indicates, which band is currently visible.

A double click on one of the buttons switches the VFO and the spot list to this band. A black marker on the bottom of the band buttons indicates, which band is currently active.

On each band button there are indicators for the number of the currently spotted number of points and multis on this band. The biggest numbers of points and multis are additionally marked with color to catch the eye.

Frequency Indicator

The font size of the frequency increases when the currenty VFO frequency gets close to a specific list entry. When the VFO is exactly tuned on a spotted stations, the entry's frequency is rendered bold.

Spot Colors

Hello Contest distinguishes between different types of spot sources, where each type has a certain degree of reliability and a color code assigned. When a spot is coming from multiple sources, the color of this spot is determined by its most reliable source.
