Researching existing apps

Various research has been conducted on several "travel app" competitors. The following text and images of the first two apps have been referenced from the following website: http://bit.ly/2xjNJyO

Party with a Local

Partywithalocal

"Party with a Local connects travellers to locals and expats nearby who -- you guessed it -- want to party. You can even check their profiles and reviews. This app makes it easy to know which random strangers around you are actually open to grabbing a drink with a tourist."

Grouper

"Grouper diffuses the awkwardness of a first date by setting up groups of friends with one another. You anonymously choose friends-of-friends to meet, and when you both pick 'yes' (like Tinder), the app plans a 'grouper' for you, which is drinks with your friends and theirs."

Backpackr

https://backpackr.org/ Backpackr's an online community that allows you to browse other travellers, their interests and where they're travelling.

How our app differs

  • Travel Pack isn't dating focused like Grouper
  • Party With A Local focuses on partying only - our app provides more types of events
  • Backpackr is more "ahead of time" (you input a date and location before travelling and it tells you who will be travelling in the area at that time). Travel Pack is more "in the moment" and based on geolocation, so you have to be in the location to see surrounding events and people.
