What is TravelPack?

Travel Pack is a social mobile and computing app that aims to bring together travelers from around the globe. Travel Pack provides users with a platform that allows them to discover various local events, Wi-Fi hotspots and other individuals touring the area.

How does it work?

The app requires users to create a profile for themselves in which they specify their age and interests. They are then taken to the Landing page which consists of the applications 3 main functions: ‘Wi-Fi’, ‘Popular Attraction’ and events you have create/are attending. Users are also able to access events near them by allow the geolocation to detect where they are and show them exactly where events are around them. Events are filtered by using tags that the users have associated to their interests in their profile. E.g. If a user were to use tags, #reading, #art, #creativity… then the app may recommend a place like GOMA Brisbane2 where these tags are relevant to the attraction. Users can also create an event themselves if they wanted to meet new people or do something fun at a specific location. Travel Pack additionally marks venues, restaurants and locations on the map with a built in star rating system for users to leave feedback.

Why TravelPack is different:

Travel Pack differs from existing travel applications as it recommends events for the users and their personalities by sorting through tags. Other applications exist that work towards the same goal of bringing people together during travelling and creating a travel community. An app that does this is called ‘Backpackr’ (backpacker.org). These other apps although require the users to organize their own meetups and manually look through the other user’s interests.

Poster Design

Wireframes

Basic wireframes were made to grasp the general scope of the poster and the content blocks:

Wireframe

First Iteration

This poster was essentially just blocking out the wireframe with coloured panels and placeholder images, however the content was legitimate. We wanted to create a design that was consistent with the app colours so we have separated the poster with three clean rows.

First

Second Iteration

For the second iteration, the focus of the the poster was to draw the attention to the phones in the middle of the page, as we want the main focus to be our app.

Third Iteration

The third iteration was changed significantly. After feedback from Lorna, we decided to add in more specificity regarding the design process and the problem our application solves. The graphics and text were also altered and improved to make the poster more dynamic.

Brochure Design

With the brochure design, we wanted something similar to the post as a smaller "take home poster". Colours and panelling match the poster design, creating consistency throughout our designs and application.
