Description: ICD-10-PCS is being developed as the successor to Volume 3 of the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM). For more information about ICD-9-CM, see the ICD-9-CM source synopsis.

ICD-10-PCS will be the official system of assigning codes to procedures associated with hospital utilization in the United States. ICD-10-PCS codes will support data collection, payment and electronic health records. ICD-10-PCS is a medical classification coding system for procedural codes. ICD-10-PCS codes are alphanumeric and seven characters long.
